What structural opening do I need?

The internal opening of the roof hatch = structural opening.
In other words, the opening size of a roof hatch = the structural opening of the roof.
If the structural opening is going to bae clad with wooden panelling for instance, the finished opening equals the opening size of the roof hatch.
