The Serious Skager Boys, Jeroen Putter and Patrick Hofland started in November 2011 their Barrelrally from Amsterdam to Dakar and back. They have been driving the 3FM Serious Request Amsterdam Dakar Challenge for the 3FM Glass house. This year the charity is the "silent emergency" of the Red Cross, which is dominated by The War Mothers.
Jeroen Putter and Patrick Hofland hope to arrive at the Glass house on December 22, 2011 in Leiden, and hand over a cheque to the Glass house. When they arrive at Leiden, they have traveled 9000 km. The Glass house is situated on de Beestenmarkt in Leiden from 18 untill 24 December.
The challenge of the Barrelrally was to buy a car that does not cost more than 500 euros. That’s where the name "Barrelrally" comes from. In addition, they were allowed to spend no more than 250 euros to repair the car. The Serious Skager Boys entered the challenge with a SsangYong Musso 2.9D from 1996. Gorter supported The Serious Skager Boys by sponsoring the trip to make the Barrelrally successful.
