explosionIn all buildings with possible or imminent explosion danger is a need for safe emergency ways in combination with explosion venting. Emergency ways to evacuate persons and explosion venting to bring the explosion force to the outside in order to safe the construction of the building against collapsing.
Saving the building construction against collapsing implies that explosion vents must open fully and as fast as possible. Openings must not be obstructed. To prevent damage to the building the explosion force must escape fast, straight and smooth to the outside. For that reason optimal operating explosion vents need a minimal opening resistance. Best should be zero resistance.
Inertia effects of heavy weight covers and /or strong forces to release the cover will increase the collapsing danger.

These opening requirements are contrary to the requirements of the building owner who needs an explosion vent that protects against burglary and weather conditions. In other words a strong construction that is adequate locked.

Gorter insulated explosion vents have a door weight less than 25 kg /sq. m. and have a very strong and durable aluminium construction.

Gorter vents are factory provided with a patented Explosion Release Control (ERC) that releases immediately in case the pressure on the inside door leaf exceeds 100 kg force. On specification the release pressure can be factory adjusted. The standard adjustment is based on the recommendations of the NFPA 68 Guide for Venting of Deflagrations, 2002 Edition. The National Fire Protection Association is an USA Institute that is acknowledged in the world.

Gorter explosion vents can be used for normal access to flat roofs or as a window or door in facades.
